Admittedly, I've been a little obsessed with the idea of taking my eye makeup to the next level. I thought hey- a coloured mascara, coupled with a complementing eyeliner and/or eye shadow would look pretty darn great together. Thing is, I wasn't having much success finding many brands that carried coloured mascaras, apart from the usual colours of navy, black, brown, brown-black, etc. I was looking for bright colours that would make my lashes pop!
As mentioned in my previous review, I ended up purchasing two different coloured mascaras, one in a purplish colour, the other in green. Almay's intense i-color cost around $9 CDN and I purchased it in the color Purple Amethyst. The tube contains 0.27 Fl. Oz/7.9 ml. The product is supposed to help "intensify the color of your eyes". In some ways this is true, but for the most part it is not...
Before I elaborate, here are some pictures.
★ There is virtually no visible purple pigment in this mascara. It wears like a warm black mascara and while it is a good mascara compared to others, you definitely aren't getting your money's worth if you were expecting something more. You should know that the purple hue contained in the mascara will darken over time.
I don't have too much to add to my comments above. This is a really good everyday mascara. It isn't waterproof, which I like. It has a really good plastic wand. It actually lengthens your lashes without any cllumping. Problem is, I purchased this expecting it to deposit a vibrant and lasting purple colour to my lashes. It failed miserably in this regard. I don't think this product was meant to compete with some of the more pigmented mascaras out there. But, for what little colour it still promises, it certainly doesn't measure up.
FINAL THOUGHTS
If you're searching for a coloured mascara, I would definitely avoid this one. However, if you are in search of an everyday lengthening mascara that is not such a deep black, this might be the product for you. If plastic application wands are what you prefer, you won't go wrong in choosing Almay's intense i-color.

PROS
★ This is a pretty darn good lengthening mascara
★ The plastic brush applicator keeps the mascara from clumping
★ Hypoallergenic formula, Ophthalmologist tested --> Safe for sensitive eyes!
★ Great lasting power, doesn't smudge
CONS
★ Offers nothing more than a regular mascara. There are a number of other drugstore mascaras that are better than this one. It's major selling point for me was that it was coloured and supposedly had the power to intensify the color of your eyes. While it does have a warmer colour than a comparable black mascara, you won't really notice any major difference once it is applied.★ Great lasting power, doesn't smudge
